I visited Vale of Culme Lodge No. 4781 at the Masonic Hall, Uffculme to present WBro. William Frank Carnell, Past Provincial Junior Grand Warden, with our Provincial Grand Master's Certificate marking WBro. Bill's 50 years of service to Freemasonry in this wonderful Province of Devonshire.
W Bro. Bill was initiated into Vale Of Culme Lodge No. 4781 on 5th May 1969 by the then Worshipful Master, W Bro. G.O Watkinson. W Bro. Bill had been proposed by W Bro. Bill Troak and seconded by W Bro. Earland.
W Bro. Bill has given tremendous service to Freemasonry in this Province and more particularly at Uffculme, I was able to speak about W Bro. Bill's extensive Masonic career and also about his business and family life.
W Bro. Bill has held high office in many degrees; Craft, Chapter and Rose Croix. He has also been a trustee and on the management committee at Uffculme for over 30 years and has worked tirelessly for all lodges and degrees meeting at Uffculme.
Bill has been a great stalwart and it was a privilege to have been able to present him with his certificate, in so doing I gave the best wishes and congratulations of our Provincial Grand Master R W Bro. Ian Kingsbury.
On my presenting the certificate the Brethren showed their appreciation in the usual way. W Bro. Bill then thanked me for the way I had presented the certificate and the hard work and time I must have put in researching it. All then retired for an excellent festive board ending yet again another happy masonic evening.
W Bro. Derek G Webber, PSGD
