W.Bro. Peter Colkin celebrates 60 years service to Freemasonry.
On Friday 8th November, I attended Benevolent Lodge No. 303 at the Masonic Hall, Hollands Road, Teignmouth to present our Provincial Grand Master’s certificate marking sixty years of service to Freemasonry of W.Bro. Peter Colkin PGStdB.
Peter was born in Coventry and was initiated into Victory Lodge No. 4009 on 28th October 1959 having been proposed by his father W.Bro. Sam Colkin. Peters older brother John was initiated on the same evening. Peter became Worshipful Master of Victory Lodge in 1980 and on retiring to Teignmouth, he joined Benevolent Lodge No. 303 and became Worshipful Master in 1992. Peter has been organist for over twenty years and has also played the organ for many other orders of which he belongs, Chapter and Rose Croix being foremost.
I was also able to talk about his family and business life and in presenting the certificate, I brought the congratulations and best wishes of our Provincial Grand Master Rt W.Bro. Ian Kingsbury.
Brother Peter thanked me for making the presentation saying that he didn’t know where the years had gone but had enjoyed every minute and the Brethren showed their appreciation in the usual way.
The Worshipful Master then made a presentation to Peter on behalf of the lodge. Before the presentation the Brethren had enjoyed the initiation of Brother Simon Lord. All then retired for an excellent Festive Board ending yet again another happy masonic evening.
