Provincial Library & Museum

A Library is now available for Masonic research at the Devonshire Provincial Office, for the use of the brethren in the Province. Not only is there a comprehensive collection of Masonic books, together with a modern run of the Transactions of the Research Lodge, Quatuor Coronati, but the historical ledgers and records of the Provincial Lodge itself are available for use by local Masonic researchers. It is possible to extend the knowledge of one's own lodge by examining these archive records, which in some cases go back to 1775, but generally to the early nineteenth century. Added to these are a very useful set of Grand Lodge Year Books, and even more useful Provincial Year books going back to the mid-nineteenth century.
Beyond the history of individual lodges there is the history of the evolution of the various Provinces and Districts, and many of them do have their own biographies. The history of Grand Lodge itself is well documented, as is the history of most of the daughter grand lodges spread over the four quarters of the globe. Also in the Provincial Office is a Library and Museum containing books, items of regalia and artefacts of historical interest. Collated by Mike Walker and Richard Ebrey, the Library and Museum is open for viewing and private research during the Provincial Office hours, or by arrangement. For further information please contact Mike Walker regarding the Library and Richard Ebrey, the Museum at the Provincial Office.
